The bazaar's aim was to raise money for the Carnoustie
golf club and this souvenir is a collection of reprinted extracts from
the Dundee
Advertiser and the Dundee Courier of 24, 25, 26 & 28 March, 1892.
The present copy is one of the few specially
bound and presented
to the stallholders (listed inside) with the receiver's name lettered
in gilt to the upper cover.

Donovan & Murdoch 860 lists only the 1866 editon. This
edition apparently unrecorded. The author and
publisher Robert Chambers (1802-71) was a talented amateur golfer and
was a prime mover in setting
up the Royal Liverpool Golf Club in 1869.

Rare. The Dalbeattie Golf Club in Dumfries and Galloway
was inaugurated at a public meeting at the town hall on 29 January, 1894,
the first
course laid out in the fields of Meikle Dalbeattie Farm and Park Farm.

An original illustration for Punch, with the original Punch
exhibition label pasted to verso. Bill Hewison was born in South Shields,
and was
educated at the local art school (1941-43) and later at the Regent Street
Polytechnic Art School (1947-49). He joined the staff of Punch in
1956, and became Art Editor from 1960 to 1984. His work regularly appeared
in The Times, Listener, Reader's Digest, Spectator, and
elsewhere.
